Choppy sales for House of Fraser

Department store chain House of Fraser has seen a mixed sales performance in the second half of the year.
Like for like sales in the seven weeks to 18 September were 1.9% higher compared with a rise of 5.3% in the six months to 30 July. However sales in the past four weeks were up 3.9%
‘We have experienced a slower start to the second half, however we are encouraged by the pickup in the subsequent weeks,’ John King, HoF chief executive says. ‘There is no doubt that market conditions will remain challenging, and we will remain cautious for the remainder of the year.’
First half profits dropped 6.2% to £12.2m thanks to the cost of building a new distribution centre.
