Thambia quits Multiyork

multiyorkMultiyork is searching for a new chief executive and chairman after Indira Thambiah left, less than a year after taking control of the chain.

Thambiah moved from non-executive chairman to executive chairman in mid-November 2010 after lost-standing chief executive Peter Mallinson resigned. Mallinson later joined AIS running its furniture division.

Thambiah and Multiyork owner Wade Furniture Group are said to have ‘differing views on the strategic direction the business should take going forward’. The chain’s chief financial officer is in charge until a successor is appointed.

Before joining the upholstery and dining chain Thambiah was in charge of Argos’s multi-channel operations.
