At Home stores impress for John Lewis
John Lewis' Croydon, Swindon and Poole At Home stores were among the chain's top performers last week.
The branches saw sales rise of 11.9%, 6.8% and 4.5% respectively. The Tunbridge Wells At Home branch was less successful, with weekly sales dropping by 8.5%. Figures for Chester and Tamworth were not disclosed as the branches have not been open long enough for comparative figures.
The chain saw a 8.9% increase in sales in the week to 28 January, driven by strong electrical and technology sales.
'Home also saw steady growth last week with sales in home accessories and gifts continuing their strong run. Furniture saw good sales with beds especially being in great demand,' says Andy Street, John Lewis md.
'Ours remains a 'bricks and clicks' story. Johnlewis.com's performance [up 42.2%] reflected continued momentum in electricals and fashion as well as increases in bed linen, china and particularly home office. The continuing roll out of Click & collect to our stores saw a 99% increase last week against last year – further establishing our position as a leader and innovator in multi-channel retailing.'
