Prestigious Textiles has secured 'substantial' damages against a South Korean firm that copied dozens of its fabrics.
Pangrim Co was found to have copied and printed 34 designs from Prestigious' portfolio and to have sold over 125,000m of the illegally reproduced prints.
Prestigious was awarded compensation to cover the loss of sales in the South Korean market, plus all expenses involved in bringing the case to court. Pangrim was also ordered to surrender all remaining fabric to Prestigious' exclusive distributor in South Korea.
Legal advisors acting for Prestigious Textiles are also currently taking action against five different fabric producers in China for copyright infringement.
'We trust this will serve as a warning of our intention to seek out and sue anyone who unlawfully copies our designs, anywhere in the world,' says Trevor Helliwell, Prestigious Textiles, chairman. 'We invest heavily in bringing innovative and trend-leading designs to the international market and we simply won't tolerate illegal copying.'
