Liquidation expected for Quigleys

quigleysBegbies Traynor is expected to be appointed as liquidator of Preston furniture and flooring retailer Quigleys.

A meeting of creditors was due to be held today after customers received letters saying the accountancy firm was handling the 77-year old retailer's affairs.

The Lancashire Evening Post quoted one Quigleys' customer who claimed he was still waiting for an order he placed in October.

Lenny Newsham ordered two tables, six chairs and a sideboard, which he said he still has not received.

'They promised a six to eight week delivery on the form and they said it would be before December 25. We did not get it before Christmas, they kept making excuses. It got to January, February and we asked where it was and they said the firm they worked with had not been in touch. Easter Monday came and went and we had been into the shop half a dozen times then I said I wanted my money back,' he told the newspaper.

As was paying on credit he will receive a refund from the credit company.
