Chandlers Ford, Hampshire and Reading, Berkshire furniture and flooring retailer Peter Green is to close its Reading store next month after continuing disappointing sales.

‘The Reading store, whilst stunning to look at, has consistently failed to deliver sales at the necessary level to support itself – this, combined with a direct approach from a prospective new tenant led to the sudden announcement,’ says Adrian Oates, Peter Green md.

The store closure will see the retailer’s furniture buyer Sue Burdett leave on 31 August. ‘Sue is a much-valued member of the Peter Green management team and we will miss her. We wish her well in her future career,’ says Douglas Bowen, Peter Green chairman.

Following Burdett’s departure, Oates will assume buying responsibility.
