Furniture sales jump at John Lewis

JLbedroomFurniture sales jumped by almost a quarter at John Lewis last week, driven by strong bed and bedroom sales.

'Home closed 17.1% up with furniture continuing to drive the increase on the year 24% higher. Within this beds and bedroom were up 27.3% as the Mix It range continues to perform well. Filled Bedding was up 38.6% on the year as customers began to think about buying warmer duvets,' says Dino Rocos, John Lewis
operations director.
Online home sales were 28.7% up with strong performances from duvets and readymade curtains.
Total sales were up 16.2% to £84.62m.
All branches apart from Aberdeen (-1%) and Southsea (-4.8%) increased sales, with 16 stores lifting sales by 10% or more. Ipswich was the best performer, with sales 40.7% higher.
