31 and out for Park

SandyParkAfter more than three decades in the industry, Kitchen International director Sandy Park has retired.

After spending the first four years of his career working for independent retailers, Park set up Elegant Homes in 1989. In 2007 this merged with Scottish kitchen chain Kitchens International.
Park became administration and strategic projects director, responsible for creating an infrastructure that would allow the company to grow then and in the future.
‘Over the years the kitchen industry has changed beyond recognition – in the beginning choice was limited and designs were simple. L-shapes, cathedral oak doors and jointing strips were the order of the day. Now the kitchen has metamorphosed from a functional, working back room to the hub of the home incorporating cooking, dining and living requirements. The expertise and professionalism required to run a modern day kitchen business is astonishing.’ Although I feel no older than I did when I began working in the kitchen industry over 30 years ago I am looking forward to retiring and spending time with my family. All the developments and changes throughout the years have been challenging but exciting, making kitchens an enjoyable and exhilarating industry to have been involved in.’
‘Sandy leaves a legacy within KI and his unrivalled attention to detail and expertise has played a huge part in making KI the success it is today. He has also been instrumental in the training and development of his succession in the company, and his influence will be with us for years to come. I somehow think he won’t be far from our doors when he gets under his wife Sheana’s feet. We wish them both a long and happy retirement,’ says Gerry Watson, Kitchens International md.
