Furniture sales leap again at John Lewis
John Lewis has enjoyed a second week of double-digit furniture sales, with sale up by more than a fifth.
After recording a jump of 15.8% in the week to 23 April, furniture sales climbed by 21.7% in the week to 30 April.
‘Sales last week were £84.6m, up 9.9% year-on-year, as customers took advantage of the Bank Holiday and we were price matching a competitor's promotional activity. Home sales were up 9.4% year-on-year with furniture up 21.7% and gifting 9.6% higher. With the weather improving slightly over the weekend our outdoor living sales were up 6.2%. Gift food and wall decor also performed well with sales up 14.6% and 14.4% respectively,’ says Mark Blundell, John Lewis head of retail development.
Home sales for the quarter are up by 5.7%.
