Topps sees sales leap
Topps Tiles has seen like for like sales jump in recent weeks.
The 347 store chain saw like for like sales rise by 8.4% in the seven weeks to 21 May. Topps says the early Easter increased this figure by 1.1%, but even with this it is a larger increase than a year ago: 6.3%.
The increase compares with a 4.7% like for like rose in the six months to 2 April. Total sales rose by £4m to £108m with pre-tax profits 11% higher at £10.1m.
We have delivered a strong first half performance and are benefitting from a well-executed and consistent strategy supported by continued investments in our business to lay the foundations for future growth.
‘We have made an encouraging start to the second half with acceleration in like-for-like sales growth in the initial seven weeks. We are confident our plans to extend the appeal of the Topps brand have significant further potential and are excited about the opportunities ahead,’ says Matthew Williams, Topps Tiles ceo.
