Centenary dinner fundraising tops £33,000

JohnCotton100dinnerJohn Cotton’s recent gala dinner to mark its 100th anniversary raised more than £33,000 for charity.

250 people attended the event for suppliers and trade partners at the Rudding Park Hotel in Follifoot, North Yorkshire, which was compered by TV presenter Alex Lovell with comedy from Jimmy Carr.
Group chairman John Cotton attended with his wife Barbara and gave a speech thanking his customers, suppliers and employees for their continued support and trade. ‘In a world where the average lifespan of a company is just 15 years, it’s a huge achievement for us to be celebrating this milestone. I know very well that we wouldn’t have made it to 100 years without the hard work and dedication of each and every one of our suppliers and valued customers. We also owe a lot to the local community and this year is about us giving something back to those who have played such an integral part in our history. We have set a target of raising £100,000 for local charities with a number of exciting events and fundraising activities taking place throughout the year to help us reach the total.’
Guests were invited to enter into a charity raffle, silent auction and regular auction, with prizes from the auction included a new £25,000 bed donated by Vi-Spring, a Manchester United football shirt signed by Wayne Rooney and a day at the stables and races with trainer Richard Fahey.
‘We’re very grateful to everyone who came and took part in the raffle and auctions. In total, we raised £33,200, which will contribute towards the £100,000 target set and we are already looking forward to our next fundraising event,’ says Mark Cotton, John Cotton group md.
Later this year, members of the company will be taking part in a charity bike ride from Poland to Mirfield to raise money for its chosen charities; The Yorkshire Cancer Centre, Kirkwood Hospice, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
