Touch of Timber gets SBID award nod
Interface’s Touch of Timber carpet tiles have been shortlisted for a Society of British and International Design award.
It has been shortlisted in the Innovative Product Design category.
‘Touch of Timber is a completely unique carpet tile that combines the acoustic benefits of soft flooring, with the natural beauty and irregular patterns of a real wooden floor. Touch of Timber is a first for the carpet tile industry as it features a yarn exclusive to Interface that is made using advanced contrast and colour twist technology. This helps recreates the intricate and fine, subtle grain of real wood. As a result, the carpet can be used to create flooring that is reminiscent of the natural elements of wood and bark, but without the compromise of disruptive acoustics. In doing so, it helps designers create work environments where people can feel more inspired, productive and content,’ says the SBID citation.
The finalists can be voted for at www.sbidawards.com until 16 September, which will account for 30% of the final results. The winners will be announced on 25 November.
