UKFD makes bricks and mortar push
Online flooring retailer UK Flooring Direct has opened the first of a chain of retail stores.
The company has opened a showroom at its Exhall, Coventry premises which Jason Ashby, UK Flooring Direct md says will be the first of many.
The company has invested £1m in IT to support the expansion and the widening of its offer from laminate, wood, LVT and vinyl into carpets. ‘We have now got cutting edge technology, which needed to be in place before we drive forward, as it gives us the ability to scale the business. We want to open more showrooms throughout the UK over the next three four years. We see a five-year plan to become a dominant force in the retail installation of carpets.’
‘The carpet market is bigger than the wood market. It means we are able to offer customers both options and we are increasingly finding that a lot of customers will take both,’ says Andy Corden, UK Flooring Direct operations director.
Previously the company initiated a campaign to attract open trade accounts with fitters, carpenters and builders.
