Home shines again for John Lewis
Home has continued to deliver for John Lewis, with strong furniture sales.
The chain saw total sales rise by 11.5% in the week to 8 October, with sales for the 10 week period up by 2.9%.
‘John Lewis enjoyed a strong trading week with sales of £89.9m, with good performances across all three directorates as customers embraced our Autumn Winter collections,’ says Maggie Porteous, John Lewis shop trade director.
‘In home, sales were up 5.2% on the year. Furniture continued to perform well with fitted furniture up 29.1% and beds up 17.3%. Cook and Dine was also up, by 6.7%.
‘Sales in fashion were 14.6% higher with the cooler weather supporting an increase across our different product areas. Womenswear was up 26.5% supported by good performances across shoes, outerwear and knitwear. Electricals and home technology finished the week at plus 16.1%.

Home sales for the 10 week period were 2.1% higher.
