Bed maker marks Britannia anniversary
Bed manufacturer Somnus has marked an historic anniversary with royal connections.
The company has introduced the Royal Britannia bed, to mark 65 years since the yacht was introduced: which carried Somnus mattresses.
The mattress has Wensleydale ‘Eco Wool’ following Harrison Spinks’ introduction of its own flock of rare Wensleydale sheep onto its 300-acre farm in Yorkshire late last year.
The mattress features 10,000 Sensa Intelligent pocket springs, which use fine wire allowing more to be added without adding weight.
‘Since Somnus provided the original luxury mattresses for the Royal Yacht Britannia back in the 1950s, it was only right that we developed a new model to pay homage to the royal yacht in its 65th anniversary year,’ said Jason Lowdon, Somnus sales and marketing director.
