Bedroom lifts John Lewis home
John Lewis saw home sales increase for the first time in a month last week.
‘Home had a good week of sales [in the week to 13 May], up 5.3% year on year. Furniture in particular performed well, up 18.1%, driven by double-digit growth across both fitted furniture and beds. Cookshop and cutlery also both had positive weeks, with sales rising by 5.9% and 4.4% respectively, and lighting had a beaming week, up 9.1%,’ said Barry Matheson, John Lewis head of shop trade Scotland and North.
Clothing sales dropped by 2.8% and Electricals and home technology rose by 3.3%. Total sales were up 1.3% at £74.12m.
Home sales for the 15 week period were down 0.4%.
