Carpetright sees growth
Carpetright has enjoyed like for like sales growth in recent weeks, as it revealed the impact Tapi is having on performance.
The chain said like for like UK sales had risen by 2% in the seven weeks to 17 June.
This compares with a 1.8% increase in the second half of the year to 29 April and a 2.8% fall in the first half.
It said stores that have been refurbished and do not have a Tapi branch as competition were seeing like for like growth of 6.8%, although this falls to 5% if near Tapi branches are included.
Average order values rose by 11%.
Analysis of 42 stores which have been refurbished in response to a Tapi opening shows that like for like growth is achieved after 10 weeks. Like for like sales in the 42 branches were the local Tapi had been open for a year were 6.7% higher in the fourth quarter of the year.
