Ikea gets green light
After a four and a half hour meeting, councillors have approved Ikea's Reading store.
West Berkshire Council's Eastern Area Planning Committee approved the application for the furniture and flooring retailer's four acre development despite concerns from some residents over traffic impact.
Many of the 60 or so people that attended the meeting were against the plans, but councillors decided that the chain's £5m investment in roads would solve any problems.
The plans, submitted in February last year, were previously approved by Reading Borough Council in June.
