imm Cologne sees bookings jump
imm Cologne has seen a major increase in bookings, according to organiser Koelnmesse.
The company says the amount of exhibition space booked for the 15-21 January event has exceeded its expectations.
‘Compared with the same period of the previous year, we have recorded double-digit growth overall – and that is with respect to exhibitor numbers as well as the amount of reserved space,’ says Arne Petersen, Koelnmesse vice president trade fair management.
‘Almost all of the halls are already fully reserved, both in the design-oriented Pure areas and in those halls in which the lower and mid-priced segments are exhibited.’
The increase has been driven by a double-digit percentage increase in registrations from outwith Germany. ‘Not only does northern Europe represent an attractive market environment for furnishings companies from all over the world – imm cologne is also a business platform where new interior design trends and products must be showcased if these businesses are to remain competitive,’ Petersen added.
In addition to the large number of returning exhibitors from previous years, there has been ‘a marked increase’ in interest from exhibitors from eastern and south-eastern Europe, especially from Poland, Greece and Turkey. There has also been a double-digit increase in exhibitors from Italy, Spain and Portugal, along with more from the US.
Koelnmesse expects more than 1,200 exhibitors.
