Recycling scheme raises £8.7m for British Heart Foundation
Harveys and Bensons for Beds’s furniture recycling scheme has raised £8.7m for the British Heart Foundation.
Having first started working with the charity six years ago, both Harveys and Bensons for Beds offer a free service to customers which allows them to donate unwanted reusable furniture to the British Heart Foundation when they purchase new furniture, which is ten sold in the charity’s stores.
‘Our continued partnership with Harveys and Bensons for Beds has been vital in helping us raise money to fund essential research. The partnership has also provided our stores with much needed furniture stock, especially bedroom furniture which we find is not donated as much as other furniture types,’ says Karen O’Donoghue, British Heart Foundation head of retail partnerships.
‘Each year we rescue 78,000 tonnes of items from going to landfill, through generous donations from the public and partnerships such as this. We’re so grateful to both companies and their customers for their support.’
‘Working with the British Heart Foundation over the past six years has been an extremely rewarding process and we’re delighted to have raised such a huge amount of money for them. It’s great to be able to offer an efficident recycling service to our customers, who rest easy knowing that their old furniture has gone to a really worthy cause,’ says Helen Nunn, Harveys and Bensons head of marketing.
