Emma recruitment of cfo designed to give co-founder focus on growing the company
Mattress in a box company Emma has strengthened its management, allowing the company’s co-founder to focus on growing the company.
Sebastian Mertes has joined as chief financial officer after spending more than five years at private equity company Permira.
‘It is optimal timing that Mertes will join our management team. We are growing at a record pace and keep ramping up in very competitive markets. His financial expertise is a great advantage. Additionally, he provides valuable impact for our continued positioning as a Sleep Tech company," says Dennis Schmoltzi, Emma co-founder and ceo.
Schmoltzi, who so far covered financial topics, wants to focus even more on Emma's growth as an organisation. ‘We have quickly become a team of over 260 people, which is great, but 40 further positions are currently being advertised. Attracting and integrating more talent is essential for us and I am pleased that I now have more time to do so,’ he says.
‘Emma will achieve profitable revenues of more than €100m a year with only €5m of funding. To me this is absolutely remarkable. Roughly one in a hundred companies can make such efficient use of capital,’ says Mertes. ‘Emma is already active in more than 20 countries and has a digital DNA from the ground up - I am looking forward to bringing my skills to this attractive and exciting environment.’
