Lepley does U-turn on M&S store role
Marks & Spencer’s incoming store director has decided not to join the chain after his present employer offered him a promotion.
David Lepley, Morrisons operations director had been announced less than a month ago, but has changed his mind. He was expected to improve M&S’s store operations and will be responsible for M&S’s owned stores in the UK and Ireland, and reported to Sacha Berendji, M&S retail, operations & property director.
‘As part of our business transformation we’re recruiting new talent at pace for key areas of M&S. Our store teams play a critical role in our transformation, so we’re pleased that David Lepley will be joining as our director of stores,’ Berendji said in September.
‘We also remain focused on responding to changing consumer habits and reshaping our store estate to ensure we’re offering our customers the very best experience, however, whenever and wherever they want to shop with us – from the very best service to the very best in-store tech.’
