John Lewis shrugs off the weather for 20% sales boost
Despite the coldest March in 50 years John Lewis, lifted sales by 23.1% in the week to 30 March, with its At Home stores leading the way.
Sales reached £76.72m during the week, and the chain is now 14.4% ahead of last year.
Tamworth, up 79.3%, Swindon, up 77.7% and Tunbridge Wells, up 58.6% were the leading At Home stores.
Home sales were up 22.5% and are now 8.6% higher for the year.
'The Easter weekend drove strong sales across Home, delivering a record week for cooking and dining, and driving a sales increase of 11 per cent against the like-for-like week,' says Susan Young, John Lewis central operations head of merchandising.
