Green move from Abingdon
Carpet manufacturer Abingdon Flooring is to undertake its second major green initiative by turning to wind power to cut its energy bills. Work has begun on installing two wind turbines near to Abingdon's Crumlin, Gwent plant, which are expected to be in operation from 19 December. The company hopes it will cut its energy bills by 40%.
Last year the company combined with a local recycling firm to recycle carpet waste and turn it into other products, including car dashboard fascias.
As well as reducing landfill it also saved the company a six-figure sum.
